They take forever to warm up. IR lamps? They hit your target temperature in seconds. It makes “just-in-time” heating actually possible. You can tweak the power levels on the fly based on what your sensors are telling you. It’s a huge relief knowing you aren’t accidentally over-baking sensitive wafers or wasting material because the oven was too slow to react.
Saving Space (and Sanity)
IR systems let you shrink your gear. Since the heat is targeted, you don’t need those massive, insulated boxes to keep the air warm. You just put the energy exactly where the part is sitting. Depending on what you’re doing, we use short-wave emitters if you need the heat to soak deep into the material, or medium-wave if you’re just curing the surface. But a heads-up: this kind of power creates a lot of concentrated heat. If your chassis doesn’t have a solid heat sink or some active cooling for the electronics, your components will fry.Don’t skip the cooling.

We use quartz envelopes for our heaters to stop outgassing.
