
Warm Bathrooms Without the Blinding Glare
Most bathroom infrared heaters are great at one thing: getting you warm fast. But there’s a catch. They usually rely on short-wave radiation, which comes with a harsh, blinding glare. If you’ve ever stepped out of the shower and felt like you were staring into a spotlight, you know exactly what I mean. It’s annoying for adults, and for babies with sensitive eyes, it’s actually a real problem. So, how do we fix that? We don’t just dim the bulb. That would just leave you cold. Instead, we tweak the quartz heating element itself. We use special coatings and filters on the glass that act like a gatekeeper. They block out that aggressive, high-frequency light but let the infrared heat waves slide right through. The result? You get all that cozy, heavy heat needed to dry out a damp room, but the light stays soft and gentle on the eyes. Now, nothing in engineering is free. There’s always a trade-off. Because we’re filtering the light, we lose a tiny bit of efficiency—maybe 5% to 10% of the raw heat compared to those blinding industrial lamps. To make up for that, we just bump up the filament wattage. You won’t feel the difference; you’ll still be warm, just without the headache. We also use high-purity quartz. Bathrooms are humid, and cheap materials just don’t hold up. This keeps the filament from burning out when things get steamy. A quick tip on installation If you’re wiring these into a fixture, pay attention to the housing. We’ve angled the reflectors specifically to push the heat straight down toward you, rather than letting the light scatter sideways. Just make sure your housing is rated for the wattage. You don’t want to melt your plastic casing. And please, make sure it’s vented. If the heat gets trapped inside the fixture, your internal wiring is going to fry way sooner than it should.
